Recovery
Gabor Mate wrote “Nothing changes, if nothing changes.” A wonderful and perceptive person, Mate writes knowledgeably about addiction and, by implication, recovery. Where this is hope, there is recovery. Where no hope exists, despair is present. There has to be hope that recovery is possible and it is.
The bravest thing anyone can do is to accept they need help and to ask for that help, even if that asking for help comes out of desperation and deep despair. That 'asking' is a truly courageous action. Light would not exist without darkness whereas darkness can exist without light.
The first step in recovery from any situation is to ask for help. Help is out there. Just ask.
